Phillip Flexon, M.D. – F.A.C.S.

flexonClose200Dr. Phillip Flexon, a board certified otolaryngologist, was born in West Virginia but grew up in Ohio, North Carolina and Maryland. He graduated from Kenyon College in Ohio with a B.A. in biology. He received a Masters of Science in Biology/Genetics at Vanderbilt University. He graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio and then completed his Otolaryngology Residency at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and Harvard School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Flexon has practiced in Georgia since completing his residency in 1989 in the Savannah area.

Dr. Flexon is board certified by the American Academy of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

In his spare time Dr. Flexon enjoys spending time with his wife and family which includes 2 grandsons. He is an avid potter and worker with clay. He enjoys being outdoors, hunting, and gardening.

He was also listed in Castle Connolly’s America’s Top Doctors.


David L. Edwards, M.D.

Dr. Edwards

Dr. David Edwards is a board certified otolaryngologist and a native Texan. He is a graduate of University of Texas in Austin where he majored in biology and minored in chemistry. He was a member of Phi Eta Sigma Honorary Scholastic Fraternity. He attended medical school at the Medical College of Georgia and completed his residency at the University of Mississippi. Dr. Edwards has practiced in the Canton and Woodstock, Georgia area since 1989.

In his free time, this East Cobb ENT doctor enjoys the outdoors, spending his weekends working on his farm and hunting and fishing. He is a member of the Kennesaw State University Community and Alumni Choir. He has three daughters and 2 grandchildren of whom he is very proud of.

He is also a nationally recognized leader in Balloon Sinuplasty. In fact, ENT doctors from across the country travel to our office to learn best practices for in-office Balloon Sinuplasty from him.

Myron Jones, M.D.


JonesDr. Myron Jones, a board certified otolaryngologist, is originally from Virginia Beach, Virginia where he was awarded a four- year ROTC scholarship to Norfolk State University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He was awarded a full Army scholarship to medical school. He is a graduate of the University of Florida College of medicine and completed his residency at the United States Army medical center. Dr. Jones completed his internship at William Beaumont Army Hospital, El Paso, TX in 1978 and his residency in Otolaryngology at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio,

He practiced for 14 years as an Active Duty US Army Otolaryngologist. He was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany where he was the Chief of the Otolaryngology Service. Also became the Seventh Medical Command Consultant for Otolaryngology in Europe. Promoted from Captain to Major. He was later stationed in San Antonio, TX and Colorado Springs, Colorado. Dr. Jones went into civilian private practice 1998, in Colorado Springs, CO, where he practiced for four years before moving to Atlanta.

Dr. Jones, a Stockbridge ENT doctor, is the father of 4 children and enjoys fly fishing, snow skiing, road biking, gardening, traveling, camping, and jazz music.

Ronald Alvarez, M.D.

Dr. Ronald Alvarez joined the Ear, Nose and Throat Institute in July of 2002. He received his bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Rutgers University College of Pharmacy in New Jersey in 1988.  He graduated with honors from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School where he received his Doctor of Medicine.  Dr. Alvarez is also a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.  He completed his residency in otolaryngology –head and neck surgery at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia and his residency in pediatric otolaryngology at Saint Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia in 1997.  Following his residency, he was a clinical instructor in the Department of Otolaryngology at Temple University.  Dr. Alvarez is a board certified otolaryngologist since 1998 and is an active member and Fellow of the American Board of Otolaryngology and Diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners.  Dr. Alvarez is on staff at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta-Scottish Rite, Northside Hospital – Forsyth and Emory Hospital – Johns Creek.

Dr. Alvarez, a Cumming and Johns Creek ENT doctor, has many interests in the fields of adult and pediatric otolaryngology including general otolaryngology, sinonasal disease, otology, sleep medicine, transnasal esophagoscopy and minimally invasive thyroid surgery. He has also contributed to articles published in American Surgeon and The Ear, Nose and Throat Journal in the fields of pediatric sinus surgery and bronchoesophagology.  His goals are to provide the highest quality care to all of his patients using the most advanced treatment methods available.  He currently resides in Alpharetta with his wife Allison and two daughters Miranda and Adrienne.

Johnny Won, M.D.

Johnny-Won-MDDr. Johnny Won is a board certified otolaryngologist who joins the ENT Institute after a distinguished 21-year career in the U.S. Navy. He grew up in California and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with high honors. He then attended Tulane University, School of Medicine in New Orleans on a U.S. Navy scholarship where he earned his medical degree in 1991.

After his surgical internship at Naval Medical Center, San Diego, he completed flight surgeon training at the Naval Aviation Medical Institute at Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida where he learned to fly the TH-57 Bell Sea Ranger. He was then assigned as the squadron flight surgeon to Patrol Squadron 4 at Naval Air Station, Barbers Point, Hawaii. During his tour, the squadron deployed to Misawa Air Base, Japan and Kadena Air Base in Okinawa. Dr. Won then trained at the ENT residency program at the National Capital Consortium, which was a combined program between the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD and the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

Commander Won’s duty stations after residency training were at Naval Hospital, Guam, David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base, California, and Naval Hospital, Pensacola, Florida. He was also deployed to Camp Leatherneck – Camp Bastion, Helmand Province, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom with a U.S. Marine squadron in 2011.

Dr. Won and his wife Marither, fell in love with the Atlanta area during several visits while stationed in Pensacola and chose the ENT Institute over other opportunities in Florida and their native California. This Lawrenceville ENT doctor enjoys the broad range of surgery and the diverse patient population found in a general ENT practice. He especially enjoys sinus and nasal surgery.

Dr. and Mrs. Won have 4 children, two daughters and two sons and reside in Johns Creek. They enjoy traveling, cruising, skiing, snow boarding and scuba diving.
