Gallups.Dr. Carothers is a board certified otolaryngologist treating adult and pediatric ENT disorders with a focus on nasal, sinus, allergy, snoring, and sleep apnea conditions. Dr. Carothers received his bachelor's degree from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. While at DePauw, he was honored with many academic awards, most significantly induction into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and graduation Magna Cum Laude. He continued his education at The Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in 1995.

Dr. Carothers received his otolaryngology training at the top-ranked University of Iowa where he studied under national leaders in his field. His research at the University of Iowa was focused on refractory sinusitis and innate mucosal defense mechanisms. His work has been published in peer reviewed journals and has been presented at meetings on a national level including the American Rhinologic Society, Western Triologic Society, and the Pacific Coast Oto-Ophthalmologic Society.

Following his residency, he completed a fellowship in rhinology at Northwestern Nasal and Sinus and became clinical faculty of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in downtown Chicago where he practiced for 10 years. While at NMH, he instructed a yearly problem based learning course for medical students at the university and served on the medical board of the prestigious 900 N. Michigan Surgical Center. He continued his training through numerous courses on the latest advances in endoscopic sinus surgery, balloon sinuplasty, and in-office treatment of snoring conditions.

Dr. Carothers was recruited to join The ENT Institute in 2011 and will be affiliated with and have a practice near Piedmont Hospital in Buckhead. He will be available to provide expert care including CT image guided sinus surgery, balloon sinuplasty, cosmetic and functional rhinoplasty, septal deviation correction, turbinate reduction, snoring/sleep apnea including Pillar Implants, Somnoplasty, UPPP, tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy, ear tube placement, allergy management including shots, and sublingual immunotherapy.

Dr. Carothers is passionate about the practice of medicine and the responsibility entailed. He finds the personal interaction with patients particularly rewarding in that he has the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of his patients and the community.

Married with two young children, Dr. Carothers enjoys spending time with his family and the multitude of outdoor activities available in the Atlanta area.
